My husband is more of the gamer, though there was a time in my life when I was a really big gamer. I'm trying to get back into it now, but time just hinders me from doing a lot. But on the weekends I watch my husband play whatever game he's been playing as I write. Currently, he's been playing Fallout 4, and I absolutely love this game- even though I'm not the one playing it.
The game is basically going into what would happen if we were to have a nuclear attack- of course a lot of it is fiction, some of it holds truth. And the aftermath of the nuclear attack is devastating. To see the world prior to going into the bunker to when your character emerges is like night and day- everything changes. And it would be that way if it was in the real world as well.
You play as a character trying to find his son that was kidnapped in the beginning of the game. You go on missions to help people that you find throughout the game, building settlements, fighting angry robots, radiated people who are basically zombies, and even people who have just gone so crazy that they just want to kill you. All the while it feels like your character is trying not to lose it because he just wants to find his kid.
You meet a lot of characters that want to accompany you and help you on your mission too. Some are better assistants than others. But they can be dead giveaways with where you are, and cause attacks to happen, because they prematurely open a door. Or they scare the crap out of you because they're walking around and you think you're being followed by an enemy and it's just your alley. The later really adds to the game because it impacts your game play because your on the edge of your seat not sure what's happening around you.
With all that being said, I highly recommend this game to anyone who hasn't played it. And highly recommend the whole Fallout series, because these games are great and the graphics are phenomenal.
